Sir John A Macdonald

2024-2025 Safe and Inclusive School Planlearning triangle

Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.

Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.

The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.

Key Priorities and Goals

This year we are focusing on building a positive school climate and teaching conflict resolution skills.

We are doing this to help develop healthy, respectful social relationships.

Key Actions or Strategies

  • Ensure all students see themselves reflected in the school community by incorporating culturally relevant material into assemblies, bulletin boards, announcements, and teaching practices.
  • Teach conflict resolution skills in the classroom, at assemblies, and through teams and clubs.
  • Celebrate students who demonstrate positive character traits.
  • Utilize student council and other intermediate students to model leadership by giving them the opportunity to organize assemblies, announcements, and spirit days.

Community and Home Connections

Ask your child about what positive character traits they are demonstrating at school. Try talking with your child about resolving conflict in a positive way by talking it out or seeking guidance from an adult.

Check the TVDSB Safe School website to support your child at home and at school.
